Dark 40 Day 3: Pounce & Play

Setup: Remember when your bed was more than a place to sleep? When it was a fort, a mountain, an ocean of possibility? Tonight we reclaim that wild, playful spirit. Always listen to your body and do what feels best moment to moment.

Engagement:

  1. Start with some energy-building:
    • Do a few jumps or heel lifts to feel brief elevation
    • Swing the hips; flail or sway the arms
    • Wake up your wacky
  2. The Main Event:
    • Actually RUN and JUMP onto your bed (option to stand near and simply flop)
    • Let yourself BOUNCE (surrender)
    • Grab all the covers and mess them up
    • Pull them around you from all fours
    • Growl, snarl, laugh, meow, moan, giggle
    • Throw your pillows across the room or to the floor
    • Lift your body up and smash back down
    • Make a nest, burrow, create chaos
  3. The Comedown:
    • Pile everything on top of you
    • Hug all your limbs around the covers
    • Breathe and notice the smile that might be there
    • When ready, ooze out of bed to the floor—take the covers with you
    • Pause and stare at the ceiling
    • Finally, remake the bed with ridiculous flourish

Integration: Notice what parts of you needed this permission to play and be messy. What memories surfaced? What sensations are lingering? WIll you look at your bed the same tomorrow?

  • Option 1: Solo Bounce
    • Full bed takeover
    • Maximum mess making
    • Wild animal sounds
  • Option 2: Quiet Version
    • Soft pounces
    • Silent giggles
    • Stealth mode
  • Option 3: Partner Pounce
    • Take turns witnessing each other
    • Create spontaneous pounce pauses
    • Play with maximum texture
